Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi,
INDIA is organizing its second International Summit on ‘Community
Development & Leadership’ (CDLS2007) from Sunday 28th October to
Thursday 8th, November 2007.
The Community Development and Leadership Summit (CDLS) is an international
gathering of young minds and will include delegations from China, Malaysia,
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, USA and India. The summit aims at
inculcating leadership qualities and a sense of social responsibility
towards the community amongst the youth of today. It is expected that the
ideas exchanged during the summit will empower students to understand the
role of leadership in community development. One of the greatest
contributions that education can make is to help evolve a society that has
young adults with big dreams for their community and country. We wish to
make a difference.
As the name suggests one of the main aims of the CDLS is to enhance the
leadership qualities among students. Today the world is in need of a new set
of leaders. The youth of today needs to step up to the challenge. The future
rests on their young shoulders. Various events have been included in the
CDLS to fulfill this objective of instilling leadership. To set the ball
rolling the students will have interactive sessions with eminent political
leaders, social workers, industrialists, entrepreneurs, journalists, artists
and celebrities. A fun filled Day of Leadership through experiential
learning will bring out the leader in each one of them.
The second major aim of the CDLS is community development and social
responsibility. As we all know today the world is faced with multiple issues
that lie in the path of development. These issues need to be addressed. To
sensitize the students to different aspects of community development, the
summit includes field visits to SOS Village, Prayas and The Tata Energy
Research Institute (TERI). The Multimedia Session will give students an
opportunity to express their views over Global concerns such as terrorism,
Global warming and world peace.
A visit to Dilli Haat will give students an insight into Indian culture and
Cuisine. Local sightseeing tours and a trip to Agra will give the
delegations a better understanding of Indian Heritage.
The CDLS aims to create leaders of tomorrow who will ensure that the people
of the world have a better future to look forward to that there is a
brotherhood of nations on whose shoulders we can lay the strong foundations
of international peace and community development.
