CDLS - CORE VALUES AND BELIEFS

Peaceful and inclusive conflict-resolution:
Problem-solving and conflict resolution should be built on the mutual understanding of all the diverse value systems, interests and approaches involved, and not on the hard line promotion of concepts of one’s own group, nation or culture.

Respect for diversity:
Differences in background, beliefs, morals, sex, race, faith, language, and individuality should be valued and acknowledged, rather than ridiculed or abandoned. CDLS is step towards connecting a growing base of participants.

Responsibility:
Individuals should exercise knowledgeable, responsible, choice in the interest of greater good, rather than to remain inert, unaware or self-seeking.

Path to Personal Growth:
Immersion in a culture as a path to peace and personal development. CDLS is founded on the belief that immersion in another culture contributes considerably to the development of a more peaceful and just world as well as to the personal growth of individual participants.

Life-long learning:
As an educational organization, Modern seeks to install passion for life-long learning and encourages students to use their skills and knowledge to thrive and contribute among cultural diversity.

Volunteerism:
CDLS believes in the unique value of volunteer contributions. Intercultural knowledge and the development of personal relations are vital to the summit. In addition, the individual growth of volunteers and the societal involvement they make are an expression of CDLS’s deep belief in life-long learning and civic accountability.

International Cooperation:
CDLS believes that all international problem solving is best based on full and open international cooperation. It is through this cooperation that CDLS strives to model cross-cultural skills, international understanding, and mutual respect.
